MythX Africa is Celebrating African Legends Through Animation
MythX Africa, an animated edutainment series created to bring historic African folklore and legendary figures to life for a new generation, has announced the official launch of its new digital home, www.MythxWebsite.com, on September 1.
Created by producer and media professional Adesuwa Regina Osawe, MythX Africa combines entertainment, history, culture and animation to introduce audiences in Nigeria, across Africa and around the world to powerful stories that have often remained outside mainstream global entertainment.
Osawe brings more than 15 years of experience across television production, content development and media project management to the project.
The MythX Africa series is designed around short-form animated stories of approximately 10–15 minutes, drawing from historic African folklore and legends from multiple countries across the continent.
African Stories. Global Audiences.
The platform will serve as the central destination for the expanding MythX Africa universe, allowing visitors to discover its heroes, explore upcoming animated episodes, watch trailers, learn about the history behind each story, follow project news and events, and explore character-inspired merchandise.
Stories featured within the MythX Africa universe span countries including Ghana, Rwanda, Togo, Angola, Tanzania, Mali, Burkina Faso, Senegal, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Zambia, creating a growing collection of African legends told through a contemporary visual format.
The project’s proof of concept centers on Dode Akaibi – The Woman King of Accra, the story of the legendary Ghanaian Queen Mother who assumed leadership when her young son was too young to rule. Her story explores leadership, resistance, betrayal and the enduring legacy of a woman whose influence extended far beyond her lifetime.
“MythX Africa is about making sure these stories are not forgotten,” said Adesuwa Regina Osawe, creator of MythX Africa. “African history is filled with extraordinary leaders, warriors, visionaries and legends. We want young Africans to recognize themselves in these stories while also introducing global audiences to an incredible world of African storytelling.”
Built in Africa, Designed for the World
MythX Africa is being developed for children and young adults, the African diaspora and global animation audiences, with potential distribution across streaming platforms, educational institutions, television and digital platforms.
Beyond animation, the project is being developed as a broader African intellectual-property platform with opportunities in merchandise, licensing, education and future storytelling extensions. The project’s mission includes preserving African history, educating younger generations and positioning Africa as a source of original global intellectual property.
The September 1 website launch marks another major step toward building a platform where audiences can not only watch the stories, but become part of the growing MythX Africa community.
