Learn the story behind the story

Go beyond the episode. Learn how history, place, language, and oral tradition shape the MythX Africa universe—and find thoughtful ways to keep the conversation going at home, in the classroom, and in your community.

Story Behind the Story

Why these stories matter.

MythX Africa begins with a simple idea: stories are a powerful way to remember who we are and imagine who we can become. Each episode is inspired by a place and a figure whose story carries questions that still feel urgent—about courage, belonging, leadership, responsibility, and the choices we make for the people around us.

Our creative process brings together research, cultural consultation, visual development, and the energy of animation. The result is not a replacement for the many ways these stories are told; it is an invitation to keep listening, keep asking questions, and seek out the voices that carry them forward.

Story behind the story

African History & Kingdoms

Context behind every legend.

Africa is not a single story or a single timeline. It is a continent of kingdoms, cities, trade routes, languages, belief systems, migrations, inventions, and everyday acts of care. The legends that inspire MythX live inside that larger context.

Use the country pages as a first doorway into deeper learning. Look for the landscape, the community, the historical moment, and the values held by each hero. When a story sparks a question, follow it: read another source, listen to a community voice, compare perspectives, and make room for what the screen cannot contain on its own.

Build a classroom around curiosity

For Educators

Use MythX as a starting point for interdisciplinary learning. Invite students to map a story’s setting, compare a legend with a historical source, investigate a word or symbol, or create a short response in their own medium.

Helpful prompts include: What does the hero owe to their community? Which details make a place feel specific? Whose perspective is centered, and whose might we still need to hear? Finish with a reflection on how stories travel and change.

Make the story a shared adventure

For Parents & Kids

After an episode, ask each other what stood out, which choice felt hardest, and what the setting helped you understand. Draw a new character, make a family story map, learn the name of a place, or retell one moment from another point of view.

There is no single right answer. The goal is to make room for questions, imagination, and respectful curiosity—one conversation at a time.
